Holmdel Girls Season Comes to An End on PK's

The Holmdel Girls Varsity team lost today to Delran in the CJ Group 2 Sectional semi-finals in penalty kicks.

Delran scored first in the first half off a corner that was deflected in off a header.   Holmdel scored in the second half off a goal kicked in by senior Claudia Collyer.  The scored remained tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.  The teams played through 2 10 minute overtimes and still remained deadlocked at 1 a piece  so on to penalty kicks.   

Holmdel missed its first kick and Delran its third so the score was tied going into the fifth and final round.  Delran found the corner on its shot and Holmdel sent the ball over the goal giving Delran the victory.  Delran will now face Rumson in the Group 2 Sectional Finals on Friday. 

It has been a phenomenal season for the Holmdel girls varsity team.  They are the Shore Conference A central champions, made it to the quarter final round of the shore conference tournament and the state sectional semi- final round.    

As a parent and a Holmdel resident I would like to say thank you to the girls for a wonderful season.  The entire community is very proud of you.
