Holmdel Boys Varsity knocked out of SCT in semi finals loss to Rumson

It was 77 minutes of scoreless soccer.  But, in the 77th minute, Rumson was able to head in a corner kick and take a 1-0 win over Holmdel to advance to the Shore Conference Finals Saturday night in Neptune.

Holmdel's goalkeeper, sophomore Tyler Marchiano had a big game, with 8 saves including blocking a penalty kick in the third minute of the first half.  The Hornets battled hard but could not get passed Rumson's defense.  Injuries to Gino D'Agostino, who has been out for the tournament, and to Jason Kyriacou, who got hurt 20 minutes into the first half, crippled the teams's offensive.

The Boys will take a few days of needed rest and get ready to begin the State playoffs which begin on Tuesday.
