Is the Holmdel Swim Club Better Than Ever?

How has the Holmdel Swim Club been this summer?

Things at the Holmdel Swim Club are changing.

Management has changed, leadership structure has changed, but above all else the experience is changing.

According to Deputy Mayor Eric Hinds, the pool has "never been better."

"We've had more lifeguards than we have ever had, we re-did the bathrooms to have all new privacy, we have a two-year plan. There has been great feedback with the change."

Hinds said the pool saw a record crowd over the Fourth of July weekend, and his morning visits have show success.

"I did a personal survey, literally 9 out of 10 people were thrilled," Hinds said. "It's time to put some money back into the pool club, we're really spending the time now to make it Monmouth County's Crown Jewel."

Officials are working on an improvement plan which Hinds said is designed to set up the pool for the next 10 years. Smaller plans include replacing the basketball hoops and switching out the wood chips on the playground for something safer, but Hinds said it has some to do with restructuring.

"We've restructured some things in town to have some cleaner and streamlined leadership," the Deputy Mayor said. "Every once in a while you have to take a look at the capital something like this takes under and look at what the next 10 to 20 years will look like."

Pool management and Parks and Recreation officials have worked together to create birthday party programs as well as arts and crafts. According to Hinds, the township is working with Comcast to make the pool wireless.
