The Holmdel Girls Soccer team ended a 14-5-2 season in penalty kicks in the sectional semi-finals on Monday.

The boys, in a similar fashion, ended their 16-2-4 season against Delran in PKs on Tuesday.

Patch blogger Valerie Avrin-Marchiano reported the girl's game ended in a 1-1 tie, sending the game into penalty kicks, which ended with Holmdel sending one over the net.

"It has been a phenomenal season for the Holmdel girls varsity team.  They are the Shore Conference A central champions, made it to the quarter final round of the shore conference tournament and the state sectional semi- final round," Avrin-Marchiano said.

The boys went through an entire scoreless game, bringing the game to penalty kicks. Delran converted on the final shot for the game winning goal.

"The blog will be back next soccer season.  It was a pleasure watching these kids give their all every game and having them bring pride to the town of Holmdel," Avrin-Marchiano said.
