Wonder if they'll discuss yet another drug arrest at HHS. Probably not, it'll be swept under the rug so as to not sully the BOE community and powers that be.
Debbie Brew January 09, 2013 at 04:59 PM
Don't let them sweep anything else under the rug. I didn't even hear about the drug arrest....you should come and speak at the end when they allow questions from the public. ( And don't be distracted if they serve cake during the meeting...that DOES NOT mean the meeting is over.) We should all be making them accountable for the horrible things that have gone on this year so far. If we don't question it, they won't explain it. Even if you question it, they often don't explain it as demonstrated in last month's meeting. My New Year's resolution includes going to every meeting as I realize now we all must look out for our children in our schools. Unfortunately, some of the people we have entrusted here are not. I saw a quote that inspired this resolution: "What you allow is what will continue" I will not let this continue.

I will be there and hope the board votes for new leadership. The last year was horrendous and a change in leadership is what is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Nick J. January 09, 2013 at 06:20 PM
I will be there tonight and I hope that new leadership is elected....it's time to shake things up and fix what is broken.
HolmdelParent January 09, 2013 at 06:20 PM
Agreed. Our current leadership seems more focused on litigating their colleagues than getting anything done. And lets not forget that neither the current President or Vice President has children in Holmdel schools. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Andrew January 09, 2013 at 06:42 PM
A message to some of our Central Office Administrators: Hopefully tonight your party will finally be over. Hopefully tonight the district will get some new BOE Leadership that will actually hold you accountable. No more finger pointing and constantly deflecting blame. No more double dipping while holding multiple jobs. No more nepotism and hiring friends, neighbors, and relatives of Administrators and Supervisors. It will be very interesting to see which BOE members will come down on the right/wrong side of the vote tonight. Looking forward to it.

BRAVO!!!!! You stated exactly what a lot of people are thinking...
Chris Jones January 09, 2013 at 09:05 PM
I wonder if they will address the Director of Special Education "coincidence" http://php.app.com/edstaff/results2.php?county=%25&district=%25&school=%25&lname=gill&fname=meryl&job1=%25&Submit=Submit
Chris Jones January 09, 2013 at 09:25 PM
Hey far as I can tell it's just a coincidence that the Superintendent of the "other" school has the same name as the former principal of Village school and it's just a coincidence that both Special Ed. directors have the same name. One has much more in state experience it would appear however. If there is any truth to this, then it's not just the Board members being made into fools, it's the taxpayers of Holmdel as well. $128k is nothing to sneeze at in my humble opinion
Chris Jones January 09, 2013 at 09:36 PM
That's an interesting observation because you would think after 28 years of "In State" experience that there would be some type of Pension for such a seasoned public employee. but again, what do we know
SAC January 09, 2013 at 09:57 PM
Maybe one of them felt badly that one of the last worker groups in the US to have a pension are teachers and refused the benefit out of fairness to all the hardworking folks who make the payments into the plan on their behalf.............no, that's not it.
Andrew January 09, 2013 at 11:39 PM
I am happy to see an end to the previous Board leadership and hopefully an end to all of the shenanigans that have been allowed to go on this past year. What is going on with the Marley 'investigation?' If you look at the BOE Organizational Chart in our District Calendar you will see that the Food Services Function reports up to the Business Administrator, Michael Petrizzo. Have we heard a peep from Mr. Petrizzo about the Marley incident? No. Perhaps that is because he is too busy with his second job in the Bernards Township school district. This is a joke. Holmdel deserves better than what we've been getting for the past few years.
Chris Jones January 10, 2013 at 03:50 PM
Anyone attend the meeting and can give a summary of how it went?
Chris Jones January 10, 2013 at 04:58 PM
Thanks for the update, glad to see some promising changes. It's interesting that the original two who's ehtics were questioned rose to the top. Still would love some resolution on this "staffers second job" issue though but I guess that will wait until the next meeting or was it mentioned again last night? Also, I noticed all of your comments got deleted, what is that about?
Debbie Brew January 10, 2013 at 09:37 PM
Oh no...don't tell me comments are getting deleted again. Unless someone is swearing or threatening, there should be no reason for comments to be deleted. Can someone from The Patch please explain? A while back my comment never made it on and I received a note that i violated Patch's terms of use...which after reading the terms of use, I did not. STRANGE....if someone's comments get deleted , they deserve an explanation. I was hoping those days were gone....
"Big Mike" January 10, 2013 at 10:02 PM
Join the club Debbie. I wish I had a buck for everytime one of my comments got deleted. What happened to freedom of speech? If you notice, whenever someone makes a comment like me BM and speaks the truth, they don't want to hear it. So they get in touch with the patch administrator and then that's when all the cryin starts waaaaaa waaaaaa waaaaaa!!! Then you're deleted. Bunch of cry babys. They need to put on their big boy and big girl panties on and suck it up. Bunch of panzies!!!
Kaitlyn Anness January 11, 2013 at 12:48 PM
To all interested: Our Terms of Use are located here, http://holmdel-hazlet.patch.com/terms. These are terms you agree to when creating your user name. They include all of our commenting rules. I'm not sure which comment you are referring to, but to the best of my knowledge, comments have not been deleted from this article.
Debbie Brew January 11, 2013 at 02:10 PM
Thank you Kaitlyn and glad you are on board...looking forward to being able to speak again. In the past my comments were not allowed on at all and they did not violate in any way the terms of use. But, I am not going to burden you with that long story. In this case, I was responding here to someone here who noticed comments deleted. This has been a problem in the past when the commenters DID NOT violate terms of use. Big Mike and others including myself have been deleted and/or not even allowed on when others have been swearing and threatening and still allowed. I have another question for you and all here.....has anyone else noticed we cannot follow comments anymore? Has this policy changed?
Kaitlyn Anness January 11, 2013 at 02:17 PM
Policy hasn't changed, (if I'm understanding what you're asking). You just have to make sure the little box under what you've written is checked before you press submit. The box says "Send me email updates for this article." If that isn't working, please let me know and I will look into it from the background!
Debbie Brew January 11, 2013 at 02:23 PM
Looks to me like all "ETA"'s comments are missing.
Chris Jones January 11, 2013 at 07:44 PM
I consider the patch a pretty reliable, as well as my first source of local news and when Christine Johnson was the editor she 100% deleted comments from articles about the Ethics charges against the Holmdel board and also comments about the Marley drink incident. She also disabled comments on several articles pertaining to the Holmdel BOE when that was the only means of Holmdel residents communicating about the issues. I can also attest to Big Mike's comments being removed from various articles.
Debbie Brew January 11, 2013 at 07:48 PM
I 100% agree Chris. Kaitlyn, the button was checked and also the button at the top of the article was selected to "follow" and I am not receiving comments. I've asked some others and they said the same thing. Thanks for following up.
Debbie Brew January 11, 2013 at 07:55 PM
It's working now Kaitlyn...thx!
Molly Ringwald January 15, 2013 at 01:37 PM
To Kaitlyn: What about some answers to the questions of deleting comments and not being able to post a comment even if someone is not violating any "terms"?? What kind of "news source" is the "Patch"?? Do you get calls from the School Administrations to remove resident's comments? And just who determines what needs to be removed and why?
Chris Jones January 16, 2013 at 08:36 PM
One article in particular that rings in my head is the original article about the Ethics charges that had interaction from multiple Holmdel residents, raising questions and concerns and upwards of 50 comments in 2-3 days and then out of nowhere, "the editor has closed comments for this article" and now theres 33 comments. Check out the Marley drink articles too, I'm sure the comments are still disabled. What's that about editor?
