SATURDAY

Holmdel 28, Middlesex 0: Rob Cantelli rushed for three touchdowns and threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Mark Sherzer as the Hornets won at Middlesex.

Long Branch 27, Monmouth 0: Deon Williams rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, Avry Griffin passed for a 62-yard touchdown and scored on a 54-yard run, and the Green Wave improved to 2-0 with a win over the visiting Falcons.

Williams, the brother of two men killed in a crash after a high-speed police chase in Tinton Falls earlier this week, played a key role in the Green Wave's offense all game, with several key runs to keep the team moving toward the end zone. He dedicated his touchdown -- Long Branch's final score of the game -- to his brothers' memory, according to APP.com.

Lacey 37, Toms River North 20: Carmen Sclafani scored three touchdowns for the visiting Mariners, but Bill Belford answered for the Lions, who gave Lacey coach Lou Vircillo his 250th career victory.

The Mariners led 14-7 after the first quarter on a pair of Sclafani touchdown runs. But Belford, who scored on a 99-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, caught a pair of touchdown passes in the second and the Lions never looked back.

Monsignor Donovan 18, Lakewood 14: Grant Klimek scored a touchdown, kicked a field goal and sacked the quarterback for a safety as the Griffins rallied to beat the host Piners. Connor Hanifin also had a touchdown for Donovan (1-1).


FRIDAY

Rumson-Fair Haven 35, St. John Vianney 13:Quarterback Danny Roberto passed for 142 yards and three touchdowns and Michael Clarke returned a punt 63 yards for another score as the Bulldogs (2-0) beat the host Lancers 91-1) in Holmdel.

Red Bank Catholic 10, Manasquan 0: Jesse Flaherty rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown and Pat Toomey kicked a 27-yard field goal as the host Caseys (2-0) beat the Warriors in Red Bank.

Wall 34, Red Bank 28: Russell Lorusso's 4-yard touchdown in double overtime lifted the Crimson Knights (1-1, 1-0) past the Bucs in Wall. Lorusso also scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter for Wall.

Point Boro 55, Pinelands 6: Chris Oliphant passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two more as the Panthers (2-0) cruised past the visiting Wildcats.

Point Beach 41, Dunellen 8: Danny Tighe rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns and Kyle Samaritano added two more scores as the Garnet Gulls (2-0) rolled to victory in Dunellen.

Marlboro 16, Howell 8: Connor McGlynn scored on a 5-yard run then threw a conversion pass to Tory Robinson, but the Rebels (0-2) were unable to rally further in a home loss to the Mustangs.

Barnegat 27, Manchester 0: A.J. Opre rushed for two touchdowns and Pat Moran returned an interception 41 yards for another as the Bengals (1-1) shut out the visiting Hawks.

Brick Memorial 36, Middletown North 21: Michael Basile rushed for 85 yards and had 94 yards receiving as he scored all five touchdowns for the visiting Mustangs.

Jackson Liberty 7, Central 0: Javon Hardy rushed for 113 yards but the host Eagles were unable to convert in the red zone, and the Lions held on for the victory.

Southern 19, Toms River South 0: Abe Gonzalez rushed for two touchdowns and Rob Yaiser added a third TD as the host Rams (2-0) shut down the Indians in Manahawkin.

Jackson Memorial 33, Toms River East 17: Khani Glover scored four touchdowns as the Jaguars (1-1) overcame the host Raiders.
