Scenes From The 'Battle of the Faculties' in Holmdel

Lots of energy, noise and school spirit at the benefit.

Holmdel's four school communities had it out in a “Battle of the Faculties,” to a capacity-crowd at the Holmdel High School gym on March 27, and at the same time raised $7,000 for school programs, according to the school district.

The spirited Village School took home the Faculty Cup after besting competitors in the Tug O’ War, Egg Toss, Free Throws, 3 Legged Race, Push-up contest, Lip Sync Contest and many other zany activities.

Emcee William Loughran, who is also the Holmdel High School Principal, said Holmdel "rocked it."

Satz School principal Art Howard, gave a special shout-out to "push-up champion Ms. Sinck, our sit-up superhero Dr. T, our raging spoon relay team, our hoola-hooping hipster Ms. Caliendo, and finally our dynamic lip-sync, dance troop...choreographed by Ms. Scott!"

The Battle of the Faculties was organized by the Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence (HFEE) and the school system. Superintendent Barbara Duncan gave special thanks to Owen Bonner, Michele England, Mandie Peart, Brian Schillaci, Tali Axelrod, Art Howard, Lisa Marino, Michael Ferrarese, Jessica Vierschilling and teachers and staff.
