Other facts

My wife and I have lived in Hazlet for 23 years, and our four children have all attended the Hazlet schools.

When I saw an opportunity to serve on the Hazlet Board of Education in 2005 to fill an unexpired term, I eagerly applied and was fortunate to be selected. Since then, I have been lucky enough to win election to two full terms on the Board.

During that time, I have had the opportunity to serve with fellow Board members who have kept the interest of the students and citizens of Hazlet paramount and have been willing to make the hard choices that may not have been the most popular.

Working with a very creative and committed administration, we have been successful in transitioning our district into a leader in innovative use of technology, shared services arrangements and a dual enrollment program with Brookdale that allows our graduating seniors to leave high school with college credits.

We have succeeding in finding new sources of income to lessen the tax burden and have, for the first time, back-to-back years of $0 tax increase budgets.

I was also honored to have been voted by my fellow Board members to serve as Vice-President and now as President. Hopefully I will have the chance to continue my service.
