POLL: Pallone Takes a Walk on Eric Holder Contempt Vote

Dozens of Democrats walked out of a Congressional vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder on contempt charges Thursday afternoon. Sixth District (D-NJ) was among them.

Pallone, who represents Hazlet and other Bayshore towns in the 6th District, was disgusted by the contempt vote, which he called "a political stunt" from the Republicans.

"It's totally political," Pallone said. "There was no basis for it. We never had Congress act to hold a cabinet member in contempt."

The censure vote was set by House Speaker John Boehner after Congressional Republicans spent months of wrangling with Holder over documents pertaining to Operation 'Fast & Furious'.

The paper right culminated in a contempt vote showdown Thursday that passed 255 to 67- right after that upheld major provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as Obamacare.)

It was a busy day, indeed, in Washington, DC. 

"I don't know what they want that hasn't been turned over," Pallone said. Opponents argued that Holder only handed over about 10 percent of the thousands of pages House Republicans demanded. The issue was a secret program conducted under the Justice Department that had US border gun shops selling firearms to Mexican gun dealers, in order to trace where the guns went.

One of the guns used to shoot and kill US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry is alleged to have come from the program.

Holder, Pallone said, "has turned over everything. I don't know what they want that would still be meaningful. Their whole argument makes absolutely no sense."
