NJDEP Public Hearing on Wastewater Management Plan

Public comment is being sought by the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection on proposed amendments to the Wastewater Management Plan of NJ.

In Holmdel, the DEP's actions could affect the potential of permitting sewering of the entire Alcatel-Lucent tract.

The proposed amendment includes .. In Holmdel Township, an area currently designated as general
discharge to groundwater greater than 2,000 gallons per day (gpd) and less than 20,000 gpd has been eliminated. All areas in the Township that are not proposed to be served by the Bayshore Regional Sewerage Authority or by on-site New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) permitted facilities will be designated as a General Service Area for Wastewater Facilities with Planning Flows of Less Than 2,000 gpd which Discharge to Groundwater. An approximately 34,000 acre portion of the MRRSA sewer service area is also proposed to be removed from the previously approved sewer service area due to master plan revisions of its member municipalities and the presence of environmentally constrained areas.
