Three Men Cited on Charges of Illegal Deer Hunting in Holmdel

Police were alerted by reports of that there were men hunting in the woods illegally.

A NJ State Division of Fish and Wildlife official charged three men with violations related to illegal deer hunting in Holmdel on Sunday morning.

Local police were alerted by a tip that there were hunters in the wooded area of Phillips Park on Telegraph Hill Road and the PNC Bank Arts Center at 10:40 a.m.

Sgt. Charles Groder and Ptl. Thomas Struble located and detained the five hunters at their cars, parked in the arts center's north lot, with the help of NJ State Police.

State Officer Sean McManus issued summonses to Romeo Draghici, 40, of Keansburg for carrying a loaded crossbow within 150 of a building or dwelling; Daniel Carbone, 50, of Manalapan for failure to immediately tag a deer after harvest; and Nicholas Francisco, 46, of West Long Branch for failure to show a hunting license.

A Union Beach man and Long Branch man, also at the scene, were released without charge.

The state official seized the deer and the cross bows of Carbone and Dragichi pending a court appearance.
