Hazlet Police Blotter Sept. 11-14

A road rage incident leads to several charges.

Sept. 11 - Two people standing on the lawn of a Hazlet Avenue residence between Middle Road and Lammers St. were arrested by a police officers who knew they did not live there. 

David Dougherty, 31, of Middlesex Avenue in Matawan was charged with hindering prosecution, because police say he at first gave a false name and address. He was also charged with possession of the Legend narcotic drug. He is being held at the county jail on $5,000 bail. 

Jennifer Bellantoni, 29, of David Street in Hazlet, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant out of Holmdel municipal court. She is also in county jail on $800 bail.

Sept. 13: Michael Crupi, 35 of Jackson was arrested with exiting Home Depot with a $499 Ridgid professional tool concealed in a box. He was charged with shoplifting and was released pending a court date.

Sept. 14: Michael Coulon, 20, of Raccoon Drive of Hazlet was arrested on several charges following an alleged road rage incident.

According to a police report, Coulon was allegedly tailgating a motorist on Beers Street when the motorist alleged he cut him off, drove around him, gave him the finger and pulled out a switchblade knife. According to the motorist, Coulon pointed the knife and said, "I don't want to go to prison for using this."

Police were called. The police found the switchblade in his vehicle. Coulon was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon.

His vehicle was seized because it was used in the alleged commission of a crime, and impounded. Coulon was taken to the county jail on $15,000 bail, but has since been released.
