Crime in Holmdel dropped by 7.2 percent last year, according to data released by State Police as part of the annual Uniform Crime Report (UCR).
The number of crimes reported in 2013 dropped to 232 from the 250 that were reported in 2012, according to the report.
Holmdel’s Crime Index dropped from 216 in 2012 to 199 in 2013.
Non-violent crime dropped from 208 in 2012 to 192 in 2013. There were seven incidents of violent crime in 2013, down one incident from the previous year.
In 2013, they’re two incidents of robbery with a firearm, and zero incidents with knives or a strong-arm robbery (hands, fits etc.).
In 2013, there was one assault with a knife or other cutting instrument, three aggravated assaults (hands, fists, feet etc.) and one incident with another dangerous weapon.
There were 33 incidents of simple assault in 2013, down one from the previous year.
In addition, there were seven motor vehicle thefts in 2013, up from two in the previous year.
In 2013 there were 17 forcible entry burglaries in Hazlet, up from 10 the previous year. There were five incidents of unlawful entry and two attempted forcible entries.
