Alleged Technology Crime Spree in Hazlet Lands Keansburg Man in Jail

A 21-year-old Keansburg man was indicted last week on charges of burglary in Hazlet, after allegedly stealing a Kindle, a cell phone and an iPad from three different cars.

Andrew Schacht allegedly broke into a car in March and took a $200 Kindle eReader, and allegedly broke into a second car on the same day stealing a $200 cell phone.

The spree didn't stop there: A third car yielded an iPad. According to a county indictment, a fourth car was also broken into, but no stolen items are listed.

Schacht is charged with four counts of burglary and three counts of theft of moveable property. He is being held in the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, and another $15,000 bail stemming from a drug possession charge in Middlesex County.
