Obituary: Christopher John Zeller, 56, of Hazlet

Worked as a Marine Superintendent at Maher Terminals and enjoyed golf, sports trivia and his family.

Christopher John Zeller, 56, of Hazlet, NJ, died on May 5, 2014 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. He was born in Orange and grew up in Middletown. He has resided in Hazlet for the last 17 years.

Christopher worked at Maher Terminals LLC as a Marine Superintendent since 1999. He was an avid golfer and won the NJ Long Drive Champion for 3 consecutive years (1982, 83 & 84). He was also a sports historian, most notably of boxing, and an expert pop culture trivia enthusiast. Chris will be especially remembered for his quick wit and rye, sardonic sense of humor. Chris touched many people with his kindness and generosity. 

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Barbara Zeller; beloved son, Christopher John Jr.; loving mother, Anne Zeller; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Dreux and Joanne Zeller; Edward and Kelly Zeller; and Gerard Zeller; his sister and brother-in-law, Francesca and Dean Graziano; mother-in-law, Carmela Mina; sister-in-law, Lois Rafferty and her husband Bill; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Mina. Also surviving are 11 loving nieces and nephews and his little companion, his dog, Jack. 

Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Robert Zeller, in 1996. 
A Funeral Liturgy was held on May 9th at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., New Monmouth, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. 
The John Pfleger Funeral home handled arrangements.
