Nikolaos Papadakis, Member of Holmdel Greek Orthodox Church, Dies at 78

Nick was a member and cantor of the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel for many years.

Nikolaos Zaharias Papadakis, 78, of Monroe Township, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Hania, Crete, Greece, he lived in Brooklyn, NY and then Manalapan before moving to Monroe eight years ago. He was co-owner of McAteers Restaurant, Somerset. Nick was a member and cantor of the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Antonia; his two sons and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Patricia Papadakis of Weehawken and Felix Papadakis of Manhattan; his sister, Popi Halkiadakis; three grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen and Luke; and many nieces and nephews.

Papadakis was celebrated on Friday, Feb. 15 Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel. Interment followed at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
