Holmdel Satz School Willy Wonka Junior. February 1st(7pm) and February 2nd (3pm&7pm). At the Holmdel High School Auditorium.

Come join the cast of Holmdel’s William R.Satz Middle School, as they take a magical journey into the world of pure imagination….

On February 1st  (7pm) and February 2nd (3pm and 7pm) Homdel’s Satz middle school is proud to present Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir in their adaptation of Willy Wonka, jr,.

The show, which features the memorable songs and the unforgettable characters from the classic family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, will be performed by the Satz Students at the Holmdel High School AuditoriumWilly Wonka, jr., follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka (played by Devlin Stark) as he(she) stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the ever hungry Augusta Gloop (played by Armando LaMastra), the television addicted Mike Teavee (played by Julia Hamwi), the gum chewing Violet Beauregarde (played by Samantha Stolker), and the spoiled overindulged Veruca Salt (played by Kathleen Reyes).  The fifth winner is a kind hearted poor boy named Charlie Bucket (played by Emma Shapiro) who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather (played by Danielle Kaden). The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory--or suffer the consequences.

To make things more exciting Satz is offering a Saturday matinee with reduced ticket prices ($3) for Holmdel’s Village School children (if you pre-order your ticket in advance email   AColannino@holmdelschools.org for details).  The matinee features a cast Q&A at the end.  This is a wonderful opportunity for younger audience members who have an interest in theatre to ask questions about the play, as well as ask the cast about their theatre and music backgrounds.  It’s
interesting to learn the cool and different things this cast does when not on the Holmdel High School stage.  Here are just a few of the Wonka cast members you will meet:

In addition to the school plays, Samantha Stolker (Violet Beauregarde) also performs with the Spotlight Theater. She just finished “Pirates of Penzance” and is now in rehearsal for “Once Upon a Mattress”.

Fans of last year’s Indian Hill School plays surely remember Devlin Stark and Emma Shapiro. These girls have graced the stage together for several years and are likely to do so for years to come.

Devlin Stark (Willy Wonka) is also a busy young lady, in addition to school plays she enjoys participating in Regional Theater productions. Most notable was 40 performances of Sound of Music at the Surflight Theater. Other favorite roles have included Snow White in Snow White and the Magic Mirror, at Chatham Community Players, and Bet in Oliver at Montclair Operetta Club.

Emma Shapiro (Charlie) has so much fun performing with her friends and is thrilled to be in the upcoming “Willy Wonka, jr”.  Emma spends her summers at the highly selective Paper Mill Summer Conservatory.  She performed in the 2011 and 2012 New Voices Concert at the Playhouse.

This Q&A offered after the matinee presents a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the cast, as well as offer parents of future stars information on many of the theatre programs in the area.

So please join the Cast of Willy Wonka jr on February 1st and 2nd on a fun filled trip into the world of pure imagination…. And while you are there, be sure to pick up a “got talent” T-shirt offered by HCAA, while supplies last!
