Please Help this Puppy Mill Survivor

Puppy mills are horrible places where dogs are kept in cages and bred over and over again. Nutrition is poor, health care non-existent, and the dogs have no human contact except to be roughly handled when the puppies arrive. Puppies are often taken from the mother too soon to be sold to pet stores. Some mills keep the dogs in cages outside in all kinds of weather with little or no shelter.

Make no mistake, these people breed for greed.

Meet Amy, a tiny Pomeranian who spent all 4 years of her short life in a Tennessee puppy mill where she was bred over and over again. She only weighs 5 pounds, so her puppies were small and very desirable in the Pet Store Industry.

Life in a crate is hard.  Amy’s diet was so poor she couldn’t build strong bones like a normal dog. Her legs were brittle and she received no medical attention. This sweet pup never learned to run and play, as the crate she was trapped in did not allow a lot of movement.  When Animal Control raided the puppy mill they confiscated all the dogs and Amy ended up in a high-kill shelter.

Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue heard about Amy and several other dogs from this puppy mill and stepped up to help find them the loving homes they so desperately deserve.  These dogs were transported from Tennessee to New Jersey and placed in volunteer foster homes.

While in foster care, Amy jumped off the couch, and because of her brittle bones, broke her front paw. Her surgery is estimated between $3,800. - $4,500.

Its unexpected expenses like this that rescues face every day. Volunteers work hard throughout the year to raise funds for Veterinary care, vaccinations, food, transport fees and more. The list is endless and in some cases adoption fees don’t come close to covering the cost of rescuing a dog or puppy.

Please help us if you can. To donate for Amy’s surgery go to: http://www.gofundme.com/3az6w4

Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and run entirely by volunteers. All donations are Tax Deductible.

Puppy mills discard dogs like garbage. Rescues step up to give them a chance at life, but can’t do it alone.  All donations, big and small, help make rescue possible.

Please share Amy’s story and help spread the word about the horrors of puppy mills. For more information on Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue please visit the website; www.castle-of-dreams.com
