Running Updates from Holmdel, Hazlet

A running update:

2 p.m.: Hazlet announces mandatory evacuation of West Keansburg section. Police are going block by block to advise residents to leave. Shuttles from the Beers Street School will transport residents to county shelters, but the last bus is at 3 p.m. The township engineer is concerned that the storm surge may overwhelm the Keansburg Sea Wall Berm. 

2:09: In Holmdel, reports of trees down on Telegraph Hill Rd. and South Holland.

1:58: In Hazlet, reports of a trampoline in the street on Leocadia Ct., and a tree triking a house on Louise Ct. and another on Hazel Pl. near the Lilian Drive School. 

1:44: Large branch reported down on car at Cresci Blvd. in Raritan Valley, Hazlet, and a tree falls on a car on Mountain Ave. near Holy Family School, Hazlet. 

1:12: Union Beach orders mandatory evacuation. (Middletown ordered mandatory evacuation, between Route 36 and the Bay, last night)

1:05: Wires reported down on West Front Street in Keyport. Multiple wires down in front of Hot Dog Bob's, near the Keyport Fishery. 

1 p.m: Keyport PD has ordered a mandatory shudown of all borough businesses as of 2:30 p.m. This includes Stop & Shop.

12:30 p.m.: Transformer out at Monterey Dr. and Roland Place in Hazlet. Power out to residents. 

At noon, a tree has reported fallen across Lynn Boulevard, off Middle Road. 

At 10:51, a tree has fallen on a house on Middle Road, near Florence Ave, in Hazlet. Homeonwers evacuating. 

At 10:22 a.m., a pole has snapped on northbounds side of Route 35 and Centerville. Traffic light is out. Patrols are responding.

In Holmdel, a tree has fallen on a house on Grandview Drive, off Schanck, according to Holmdel Mayor Patrick Impreveduto. It is next door the house that was crushed by a big one after Irene, and whose occupant only recently moved back in. The homeowners are vacating the house.

In Hazlet, Mayor David Tinker is doing rounds by vehicle. There are no serious flooding issues yet, though he is watching how water is pooling near Union Ave, on the Union Beach side. He notes some stores, like Verizon on Route 35, have boarded up windows.
