Shorelands Providing Water to NJAW

Shorelands Water Co. advising customers to restrict water usage; boil water advisory does not apply.

Hazlet-based Shorelands Water Co. is providing water to New Jersey American Water (NJAW) following a water main break in Middletown that impacted that company’s supply.

“Shorelands is not receiving water from New Jersey American Water and is using our own facilities to supply demand. Shorelands is currently providing water to New Jersey American Water in order to provide assistance during this emergency,” the company stated in a release on its Web site and on a recorded phone message.

Shorelands Water Co. provides water to over 11,000 customers in Hazlet and Northern Holmdel. While Holmdel remains on the Monmouth County boil water alert, Shorelands Water Co. says its Holmdel-based customers are not under the advisory.

“Although the County has instituted a boil water advisory for select towns, the Shorelands' system has been isolated from the New Jersey American system and we are utilizing our own water treatment facilities to supply demand. Shorelands Water Company customers DO NOT have to boil their water,” the company stated in the notice.

Shorelands Water Co. has advised customers to stop all outdoor water use during the county-wide emergency.

Unfortunately it's also a bad thing. What about the elderly or those who just don't use the Internet?
