Deadlines Looming to Enroll in Holmdel Summer Camps

Keep 'em busy, right here in town. Browse offerings from schools and church and police, in this list.

Here are some camps in Holmdel looking to fill their classes. You may have missed the early enrollment discount, but you can still avoid the late fee or possible disappointment by taking note of the deadlines. 

HOLMDEL TOWNSHIP POLICE YOUTH ACADEMY

Deadline to register May 20: This popular camp for boys and girls ages 9-12 is limited to 40 attendees for each week. Attendees get to know real police officers, work with the K-9s, learn firearms safety, self-defense, criminal investigations and more. Field trips are included, and a military drill and ceremony is held every day.

It is held in the last two weeks of the summer. Aug 15-19 is for 9 and 10-year olds; Aug. 22-26 is for 11 and 12 year olds. Registration is first come, first served. Read more and download the application from the township police website. 

HOLMDEL RECREATION SUMMER CAMP 2011

Deadline to register is May 31. Runs July 5 - Aug. 12. Hours are 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. For kids in grades K-6.  Games, sports, arts and crafts and day trips at the Satz School. First camper is $240, second camper $205.  New this year, Counselors in training, ages 14-17, pay $50. The application is accessible by the PDF link on this page, near the photograph, or at the Recreation Dept. at Town Hall. 

There is no Bayonet Farm Summer Camp this year. 

ST. BENEDICT EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM SUMMER CAMP

Deadline to register is May 26. Camp runs from June 22-July 1, 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily. Movies, games, lunch and snacks, field trips, outside water activities, and daily activities. $50 a day. Registration form here.

HOLMDEL ACADEMIC SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAMP

Deadline past, but is now extended: Now in its seventh year, the Summer Enrichment Academic Program offers so many varied courses, such as Cartooning, Public Speaking, Web Site Design and Weird Science.  The program is run by the Holmdel school district, but is entirely funded through tuition. The deadline was May 9, but camp director Harry Dangler said he will continue to accept registrations through May 20. 

Two week and one-week courses offered in the district schools from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., July 11 - August 11. No classes on Friday. One week courses, $195; Two week courses are $345. See more, and the application, here

HOLMDEL HIGH SCHOOL HORNETS 2011 SUMMER SPORTS CAMP

Late fee of $10 after June 3. For incoming grades 2 through high school, run by coaches. One, two and three-week camps, some in the morning and some are at night. Late fee after June 3. $135/week. Sports offered: Baseball, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track, volleyball and wrestling. VIANNEY INSTITUTE OF LEARNING SUMMER CAMP

No stated deadline. Held at St. John Vianney High School, for grades 1 through 12.  Many varied courses, like Showtime (Grades 4-12) where kids learn what goes into putting on a real production (9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., July 18-August 12/$700); CSI Lab and Investigation (Grades 7-12) where kids learn techniques from real detectives (July 25-July 29/$350), and Paintball Mania (Grades 7-12) for messy fun (August 1-August 5/$450). Extended care available.
