Volunteers Needed for Creek Clean Up in Aberdeen Sept. 29

Enjoy the weather while cleaning the Bayshore

The Aberdeen Township Environmental Board, in conjunction with The Bayshore Regional Watershed Council and the NY/ NJ Baykeeper, is seeking volunteers to assist in the clean up of Riverdale Park in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen on Saturday, September 29, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Additional support and trash bags will be provided by the Monmouth County Clean Community program.

Volunteers should park their cars on Riverdale Drive, east of Edgeview Drive in Cliffwood Beach. Access to Riverdale Drive can be made from the southbound lane of Highway 35. Riverdale Drive is located right before the bridge that goes over Matawan Creek.

According to Frank Huza, chairman of the Aberdeen Township Environmental Board, the need for volunteers is great due to an estimated 20-plus cubic yards of trash on the site.

This 25-acre site was acquired by Aberdeen Township in 2004 to provide additional open space for residents.
