Red Maple Planted In Memory Of Gerald Ceres, A Holmdel Historian
The tree stands outside Dr. Cooke's Medical Office near Village School in honor of the man who helped save the historic structure from destruction.
Members of the Holmdel Historical Society have planted a tree in honor of Gerald V. Ceres (1923-2012).
Jerry was president of the society for 14 years, from 1986-2000. He volunteered a tremendous amount of time and effort in documenting the history of Holmdel, including rescuing Dr. Cooke’s Medical Office from destruction.
The red maple, which Jerry’s wife Rita Ceres said was Jerry’s favorite type, is planted on the grounds near Dr. Cooke’s Office, located near Village School on McCampbell Road. The tree was donated by Dearborn Farms. The society purchased and installed a plaque near the tree in memory of Jerry.
