Holmdel Girl Scouts Follow Path to Bronze at Bayonet Farm

Junior Girl Scout Troop 1874 plants flowering plants at Bayonet Farm.

When visiting the Bayonet Farm Sunday, May 1 for the Earth Day festivities, go to the Grey Barn. Then look for a special message on the stepping stones.

If you look closely, they say: "Girl"  "Scout"  "Troop" "1874"  "Bronze" "Award."

The installation of the stones was the finishing touch for Holmdel Junior Girl Scout Troop 1874's landscaping project begun in the fall at the Gray Barn at Bayonet Farm. They planted beautiful Hydrangea plants that will bloom year after year.

These stones were placed along the side of the Gray Barn. The Scouts raked up the old stones and planted grass seed on new top soil. In doing so, they experienced one of the core experiences of Girl Scouting: community service.

Troop Co-Leaders Nina Elliott and Linda Fernand are very proud of the six members of their Troop, who earned the the Bronze Award in Girl Scouting, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn.
