Thoughts on Holmdel

Holmdel is a school town. People move to school towns and they are a good investment.  After children are finished with the school system, many Holmdel residents stay for another vitally important reason that maintains the value of  our town.

Holmdel is a SAFE town. During the recent conversation regarding the budget gap and the various proposed solutions there were comments regarding the size of our police department. I read a statement that we have a larger police department than surrounding towns with larger populations than ours. Our parks are safe, our streets are safe, the response time of our police department is incredible and I commend each and every one of the dedicated men and women who serve our town in this way.

Our Mayor Pat Impreviduto has been steadfast in maintaining that the safety of our township residents is a top priority. God bless him. It is gratifying to have such an effective communicator at the helm.  The quantity and quality of communications distributed to inform our fellow citizens of the goings on in our town are surely appreciated by one and all.

I have had the honor to serve on our Zoning Board first as an alternate, then as Secretary and most recently as Vice Chairman.  I was temporary Chairman for the Greek Church application this year. The very first time I sat on the dias, some members of the public from another township approached the bench and our chairman at the time; Irwin pressed a magic button to signal a call for help. The doors to the left opened up and there were the police, our Heroes to restore order in the court. At that moment, I became a loyal Holmdelian.

Our son Jesse was recently home from Princeton U for Spring break and each day he took me to Holmdel Park for a walk on trails deep in the woods that I had not known existed. Never once did we look over our shoulders or feel insecure.

Holmdel is a good, safe town and it’s Home. I hope that every member of our police department knows that we are grateful for their service.
