Holmdel Girls Soccer Gains a First Round Win on Senior Night

Well it sure felt like winter tonight at Roggy Field.  The Holmdel Girls Varsity Soccer Team did their part to keep warm by scoring 5 goals in the first 25 minutes of their first round state Central Jersey Group II tournament game against #16 North Plainfield.  Sophomore Hannah Lee had a hat trick and seniors, Antonia Arena and Jayne DePontes each added a goal for Holmdel.  North Plainfield was able to score a goal late in the second half to bring the final score to 5-1.  The top seeded Hornets play the quarter final round at home on Thursday against #9 Delaware Valley at 4 pm.  Delaware Valley beat #8 Robbinsville,  2-0,  earlier today.   Meanwhile, the upsets have started as #15 Cinnaminson upset #2 Spotswood 2-1 this afternoon.

Tonight was the night the graduating seniors are recognized for their contribution to the team.  The Girls have 14 graduating seniors!  They are:  Antonia Arena, Claudia Collyer, Alyssa Cuccurullo, Jayne DePontes, Katerina Distler, Kelly Dronne, Claudia Falcone, Christina Ilvento, Alexa Limbach, Ally Marchiano, Jessica Moskal, Nicole Pantaleone, Ariel Toy, and Lizzie Zelina.  They will all be missed by Coach Conroy and their fellow teammates.

Don't forget, the Boys have their first round state game at home tomorrow against Delaware Valley.  Game time is 4 pm.  Grab a blanket and come on over to watch the boys.  I will see you there.
