Holmdel holds on to beat RBC
No one in attendance would tell you it was pretty but the Holmdel Boys Varsity team hung on to pull out a 3-2 victory over Red Bank Catholic today at Roggy Field.
RBC got on the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead. RBC held on to that lead until there was a mere 1 second remaining on the clock when senior midfielder Jack Flanagan connected on a beautiful shot to the upper 90, to take Holmdel into half time tied at 1 all.
The Hornets came out from the half charged up and scored again, Jason Kyriacou to Santo Arena, with just under 4 minutes gone by. RBC wasn't going to be denied that easily though and they tied the game up at 2 all. In the end Holmdel proved to be too much for the Casey's. Gino D'Agostino scored with 14:25 minutes remaining, to give Holmdel a 3-2 lead, on what would prove to be the winning goal.
The Hornets play again away against Manasquan at 4 pm on Tuesday. This is another divisional game for the boys so come on out and support the team. I'll see you there.
