Christina - Comments on bin Laden - Our country desperately needed a win.

I'm happy we got the bastard, but the war on terror is kind of like an endless game of football where - sometimes we rip off a long gain, sometimes we're stopped cold and sometimes the other guys score on us. And it continues on and on.

Our unbelievably courageous and skillful Special Ops people scored an impressive TD yesterday and the winds of freedom seem to be blowing across the Arab peninsula and North Africa, but the game is far from over - still reason to remain alert.

Final observation: Score one for nuance and surgery (instead of the bludgeon.

Thanks for thinking of me. I'd be interested in blogging, but with the proviso that I not be bound by a series of deadlines - please provide me with the "rules of the road"

Jeff, I want to personally invite you to comment on the bin Laden news. I also am hoping you will consider blogging for Patch, beginning May 4. We are now partners with the HuffPost, and will have a similar blogging platform on our front page.

Thanx.

We moved to Holmdel over 35 years ago and I have finally arrived at the conclusion that - despite the town's high and low points - we made the right decision to settle here.

I love the Patch because the ever-shrinking news hole of our local daily (The APP) has left us with, maybe, one Holmdel story a month if we're lucky.

(If you've got nothing to do, Google "Robert Windrem" - currently a National Security consultant to NBC and once (when his hair was red and shaggy) a local beat-writer for the Asbury Park Press covering Madison Twp - aka Old Bridge. He would have 2 or 3 Madison story lines going each week - with daily articles regularly advancing those stories. That's the way you cover a municipality Windrem was pure & simple, the best local reporter I have ever known.

The Holmdel Patch is filling that local news-void (although I am hoping fervently that the Star Ledger's plans to offer a Monmouth/Ocean edition might also help fill that need).

To digress slightly, pick up the current copy of The New Yorker. There's a terrific feature by a guy named Boyer about a small local community newspaper in a lovely Hudson Valley community (Garrison, NY) and what happened after Roger Aisles bought it.

Keep 'em coming.
