Defendants in Bayshore Heroin Ring Case Enter Guilty Pleas

Prosecutors say the drug ring sold $25,000 worth of heroin per week.

The last four defendants in a 25-person heroin ring based in the Bayshore have pleaded guilty on drug charges, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Peter E. Warshaw Jr. announced in a press release issued Wednesday. The drug trafficking group, led by 32-year-old Matawan resident Dectric Rawls, sold approximately $25,000 worth of heroin per week, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Dectric Rawls; Daryel Rawls, 31, of Lakewood; Brandon Vashey, 23, of Middletown; and Joel Benitez, 27, of Freehold, were among the 25 arrested on charges stemming from a 2009 investigation into the heroin trafficking organization.
