Middletown Planning Board will hear a proposal for a 245-unit housing development near Taylor Lane and across from Target.
A proposed 245-unit housing development returns before the Middletown Township Planning Board on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The application by American Properties in Middletown would develop 31 acres along Taylor Lane and Route 35 South across from Cherry Tree Farm Road and the Middletown Target. The project is near the Holmdel border and includes a lot listed in the Holmdel Township tax map. The proposal, called Heritage at Middletown, includes 196 market-rate multifamily townhouses and 49 affordable multifamily units, along with a 3,600-square-foot clubhouse and a pool for the community. The hearing, continued from the governing body's Dec. 5 meeting, will be held at Middletown Town Hall.

A public hearing is scheduled tonight for a proposed housing project to be situated on 31 acres adjacent to Route 35 South, on both sides of Taylor Lane in Middletown. A portion of the heavily wooded parcel is zoned for multi-family housing. Most of the land is in Middletown, and some of it is in Holmdel Township. The property is owned by Harry Swartz, M.D. and Renee Swartz of Rumson and Joseph Becker, with a postal address in New York. According to documents at the Middletown Planning Office, the proposed use of the land is for 196 market-rate multifamily "stackable townhomes" and 49 affordable multifamily "flat" units, along with a 3,600 square foot clubhouse and a pool for the community. American Properties at Middletown is proposing a housing development for wooded land at Route 35 South and Taylor Lane in Middletown, near the Holmdel border. According to a public notice published on Nov. 21 in the Asbury Park Press, the developer is seeking approval for 245 multifamily units on approximately 31 acres. They should look to buy this land and preserve as open space- our roads have enough traffic and our schools are maxed out- this development will make that jug handle a bigger mess and will benefit no one but the greedy developer who probably doesn't even live within 500 miles of here and could care less about the negative impact this will have on the own   more ›
