Holmdel Resident Receives Prison Sentence for Filing False Tax Return

Steven Imburgio was sentenced to three months in prison.

A telecommunications executive from Holmdel was sentenced to three months in prison for filing false personal federal income tax returns, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced in a press release on Tuesday. Steven Imburgio, 50, pleaded guilty in March 2012 before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson. As part of the plea agreement, Imburgio admitted to one count of making and subscribing to a 2004 federal income tax return to the IRS that he did not believe to be true. Wolfson imposed the three-month sentence in Trenton federal court on Tuesday.
