Holmdel BOE President: A Staffer's Second Job Was Subject Of Board Investigation

Board President Barbara Garrity issued a statement Monday morning stating board policy was not violated.

The following statement was issued by the Holmdel School District on Monday morning, around 9 a.m. A number of parents have expressed their concern about the nature of a recent investigation involving a school staff member.  The matter came to public attention following comments made by two members of the Holmdel School Board, which included a reference to recent controversies involving Penn State and Brookdale Community College.  While aspects of the matter remain confidential because it involves personnel, I can share a few important facts.   First, school district policy allows staff members to pursue outside consulting activities on their free time outside of their normal business hours.  When the Board of Education learned that a …

If my name match on Google is correct, the job title for the person in question is for a position that is much more operational than I expected. In fact, it disappoints me that the administration and a majority of the BOE would actually believe that this position could be conducted completely outside of Holmdel business hours and has been in the over 3 years that it has been held. Holmdel BOE, Township Settle on Remaining Payment for Roggy Field

The Board of Education will pay the $165,000 in 2012, and another $165,000 in 2013.

A tentative agreement has been reached between the school district and the township on what the Board of Education's final payment will be for the installation of the $1.4 million artificial turf Holmdel High School's Roggy Field. The settlement calls for the BOE to pay the township $289,000 plus different interest charges over the next 12 months. The first check of $165,000 is due now, and a second one for $165,000 will be due July 2013. The payments must be approved by a vote of the Board of Education on August 29. Mayor Patrick Impreveduto announced the settlement at Thursday's Holmdel Township Committee meeting.
