SJV Responds To Rumors of Insensitive Chant at RBR Basketball Game

RBR and SJV school officials attempt to quell rumors that some SJV students allegedly chanted "Where's Albert?" in the stands at Wednesday night's basketball game.

Saint John Vianney Principal Steven C. DiMezza said today that the school is investigating an incident that occurred Wednesday during a boy’s basketball game vs. Red Bank Regional High School in Holmdel.  "Inappropriate comments were made with regards to the loss of RBR student, Albert Martin," DiMezza said in a statement posted to the school website. "False rumors about chanting began circulating on social media sites. "Matters such as this one are taken very seriously at Saint John Vianney High School," siad DiMezza. "We are in cooperation with the Holmdel Township Police Department and Red Bank Regional High School. Please be assured we will continue to work toward a resolution of this incident. Football Roundup: SJV Beats Monmouth Regional

A look at Saturday’s Shore Conference football games, compiled from reports at app.com, nj.com and allshoremedia.net: St. John Vianney 27, Monmouth Regional 9: Steve Callari returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and caught a pass from Billy DeMato for a 37-yard score as the visiting Lancers (3-3) beat the Falcons (1-5). Callari’s second TD gave St. John Vianney, which initially trailed 9-0, the lead for good. Chris Colapinto ran in for a 1-yard touchdown and Ishmael Hyman ran for an 18-yard score for Vianney. Monmouth recorded a safety when Rydell Wilson and Dylan Brown sacked DeMato in the end zone. SJV Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor Banquet

See who was honored Saturday, at the ceremony.

Saint John Vianney High School of Holmdel hosted their 2012 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor Inductions Dinner at the American Hotel in Freehold on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The event was a huge success with over 100 people attending, half of those being alumni. The banquet is an event that honors SJV’s alumni on their success during their time at SJV as well as after graduation. The banquet was Emceed by Class of 1977 and Baltimore Orioles Announcer, Mr. Jim Hunter.
