The company that leases the Holmdel Tennis Center is opening a full-service facility on Amboy Road.
Centercourt Athletic Club is constructing a tennis and fitness facilty in Marlboro. The center, located in a newly renovated building on Amboy Road, will have six climate-controlled tennis courts, an equipped gym, a small massage room and a daycare facility. "There are not a lot of tennis clubs in the area that have a gym," said Yevgeny Supeko, General Manager and Director of Player Development for the new facility. "This gym is going to emphasize personal training." The idea for an indoor tennis athletic training facility began about seven years ago in Chatham, NJ. Centercourt Athletic Center is granted a lease to run a business at the Holmdel Tennis Center, and the firm says it will open as soon as it can fix up the neglected courts.
Thonk! Holmdel's deteriorating Tennis Center has just been served a new game, thanks to a lease-with-option-to-buy deal the township has made with Centercourt Athletic Club. A fresh shipment of Har-Tru clay material will be trucked up Bailey Lane as early as today to be used in the refurbishment of the tennis center's courts, said Centercourt's Yevgeny Supeko. On Monday, 5,000 brochures will be mailed out advertising adult and children tennis clinics, lessons, and a June 25 - Sept. 7 summer camp. "We are going to try to build a great program. A Committee vote and public hearing will be held on April 19.
Holmdel Township officials said on Thursday they were postponing the final reading of local legislation authorizing the lease of the Holmdel Tennis Club. The ordinance and public hearing will be put on the agenda of the April 19 meeting. No explanation was given for the delay.
