State Exam Formula Kept Holmdel Off Top Schools List

Holmdel High School Principal Bill Loughran didn't let being left off of the U.S. News and World Report Top High Schools list go unanswered. The 2013 Best High Schools rankings, released in April, can help parents wade through the ever expanding options of public high schools, according to the magazine. U.S. News collected data on more than 21,000 public high schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia, the magazine reported. Holmdel High School was left off of the annual high school ranking published by U.S. News and World Report, despite last year's high ranking. The 2013 Best High Schools rankings, released this week, can help parents wade through the ever expanding options of public high schools, according to the magazine. U.S. News collected data on more than 21,000 public high schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia, the magazine reported. 75% of Holmdel High Students Achieve 1550 or Above on SAT

The College Board has found scores of 1550 and above indicate college readiness and a high rate of higher education success.

The New Jersey state report card issued by the Department of Education shows Holmdel High School students are achieving high scores on college readiness tests. 75 percent of Holmdel High students scored a 1550 or above, on a 2400 point scale. The composite score in HHS was 1788, about 1,000 points above the average. "The SAT benchmark score of 1550 (Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing Score combined) indicates a 65 percent likelihood of achieveing a B- average or higher during the first year of college, which in turn has been found by the College Board's research to be indicative of a high likelihood of college success and completion," the report said.  College readiness also encompasses AP programs, of which Holmdel students took 17…

Holmdel High Above State Average for College Readiness

Holmdel HS has also surpassed the academic achievement state average.

New Jersey's Department of Education has officially released the school report cards, and Holmdel High School has passed the state average in several categories. The NJ School Performance reports for 2011-12 include new data on college and career readiness, while providing comparison to “peer schools” in order to provide a more complete overview of performance for educators and the public, according to the DOE.  In academic achievement, state data shows Holmdel outperforms 81 percent of New Jersey schools and 57 percent of the schools with a similar demographic. According to the NJDOE, academic achievement measures content knowledge in language arts and math as measured by HSPA scores. Holmdel High outperforms 85 percent of school …

Holmdel Sports in the Running for ShopRite Cup

Holmdel High School held the highest ranking for group two fall sports in the ShopRite Cup.

Holmdel High School athletes are among the best in the state, according to their ranking in the annual ShopRite Cup. With 30 points, fall sports at the high school gave Holmdel the highest ranking in Group 2. Boys soccer, girls tennis, and both girls and boys cross country contributed to the school's high standing. "A lot goes into what our coaches do, and our athletes put out a phenomenal work ethic," Holmdel High School Athletic Director Randi Westral said. According to Westral, points are awarded based on appearances and honors in state tournaments as well as extra points for continued sportsmanship. 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead' at Holmdel High School

The Holmdel Theatre Guild of Holmdel High School proudly presents “The Wizard of Oz” on March 7, 8 & 9, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium.

The Holmdel Theatre Guilde of Holmdel High School is currently rehearshing the classic "Wizard of Oz" this year, with a talented cast with students of all ages. In an event listing uploaded to Holmdel-Hazlet Patch by Director Joseph Clores, Clores said: The L. Frank Baum classic is true to the 1939 movie with some interesting twists more loyal to the original book. All the familiar songs are there including “Over the Rainbow”, “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”, “If I Only Had a Brain, Heart, Courage” with a few songs not included in the film. The production will feature a full live orchestra with colorful sets and costumes. Munchkins will be played by Holmdel High School students students from Indian Hill Elementary School.
