Holmdel Village 'Inverness' Subdivision Goes Before Holmdel Planning Board
The property is located between Vonage, at Route 520, and Willow Brook, on the border with Colts Neck.
The final major subdivision plan for the proposed development called Inverness, in Holmdel Village, returns to the Planning Board tonight. On the agenda is a proposal to subdivide property on the south side of Route 34 and Holmdel Road into four open space lots, and 18 single family building lots. One of those single family lots would contain the exiting historic farmhouse on the tract known as the Henry D. Ely farm and be encumbered by a farm land easement. Preliminary approval the applicant, Westor Partnership, represented by Henry B. West, was granted in 2007. This is where you have to watch out for what the law calls "setting a precedent." If you allow a density increase, then the next builder in a zoning area will claim that they should get the same variance -- that is -- deviation from the zoning.
