Three Hazlet Men Arrested in Pot Distribution Bust

Investigators say over one of the men had over 25 pounds of marijuana stored in his Route 36 apartment.

Five people have been arrested and 50 pounds of marijuana along with $400,000 was seized in the bust of a pot distribution group. According to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, five people were arrested and charged on April 29 and April 30 following an investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Gangs, Guns and Drugs Task Force. The five arrested were allegedly dealing marijuana in various spots around central New Jersey, according to the release. Mehmet Killic, 25, Eric Geraghty, 24 and and Crystal Lumley, 23, all of Hazlet, have been arrested and charged with first degree counts of possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute. Woman Allegedly Forged Xanax Prescription at Hazlet Pharmacy

Police say the 21-year-old was also in possession of a small amount of the drug at the time of her arrest.

A Highlands woman is facing several drug-related charges after she failed to pass a forged prescription at the Hazlet Pharmacy on April 25.  Police say Fiona Gallagher, 21, stole blank prescriptions from a medical office and then conspired with another to forge the prescription for the anti-anxiety medication. She was allegedly in possession of (6) one milligram pills of Xanax and one suboxone pill, according to the complaint warrant filed by the arresting officer. Gallagher was charged with theft, forgery, conspiracy and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, all in the third degree. Car Lands on Route 36 Guardrail After Accident at Palmer Ave. Intersection

The car came to a stop near the following intersection at Euclid Avenue.

A car came to rest on the Route 36 guardrail near the border of Hazlet, Keansburg and Middletown after an accident at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to Bob Pfleger, the public information officer for the Middletown EMS. The car was traveling eastbound on the highway through the intersection of Palmer Avenue when it struck another vehicle, Pfleger explained. The car continued forward after the accident and came to rest on the guardrail near the next intersection at Euclid Avenue.  One lane traveling in each direction on Route 36 was closed immediately following the accident, and Route 36 east was closed entirely while a tow truck removed the car from the guardrail. Gas Main Break in Hazlet Caused Overnight Closure of Route 36

The stretch of highway was closed after a construction crew struck a gas main.

A portion of Route 36 in Hazlet was closed overnight Thursday after a construction company working on Poole Avenue struck a gas main. According to Chief James Broderick, JF Kiley Company was working on replacing an old gas line on Poole near the intersection of Route 36 at about 10:20 p.m. when their backhoe hit a four-inch gas main.   Firefighters from Hazlet Fire Co. 1, West Keansburg and North Centerville responded to the scene and remained there until the leaking main was repaired. Hazlet Police: Two Burglars Arrested After Foot Pursuit

The pair are facing burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary charges.

Two Keansburg men were arrested Saturday after they allegedly entered two Hazlet Township homes, according to Police Chief James Broderick At about 12:30 p.m., a man attempted to enter a home on Bunkerhill Road by pushing out a window screen, according to Broderick. The home, however, was occupied, and the resident began shouting and scared the man away.  The resident called police and officers began searching the area.  Shortly after, a resident of Appleton Drive reported seeing a man climb through a window at his neighbor's house. Hazlet Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Delivery Truck at Airport Plaza

He was trapped under the truck, police said.

A Hazlet man was seriously injured Wednesday when he was struck by a delivery truck in Airport Plaza, according to Police Chief James Broderick. The preliminary investigation shows that the 75-year-old was walking in the fire lane shortly before 12 p.m. in front of the plaza near the liquor store when a Pepsi delivery truck reversed over him, Broderick explained. The man, whose identity is being withheld until family members can be notified of his injuries, was pinned under the truck. The Hazlet First Aid Squad responded to the scene with a rescue truck and used hydraulic equipment to lift the truck off of the victim.  After lifting the truck, emergency medical personnel were able to attend to the victim and transport him to a nearby …

Police: Keansburg Man Burglarized Several Cars Overnight at Village Green

Police caught the individual as he tried to catch a cab off of Clark Street.

A Keansburg man is facing burglary and theft charges after he allegedly broke into several cars parked in the Village Green Condo Complex off of Clark Street in Hazlet overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The Hazlet Township Police Department received a call from a Village Green resident at about 5:30 a.m. reporting a man seen entering a parked vehicle, according to Chief James Broderick.  The subject, upon being observed by a resident, fled the area. Police: Trio Arrested After Allegedly Stealing 129 Cans of Spray Paint from K-Mart

Police say they threatened a store security guard who tried to stop them.

Two men and a woman were arrested Feb. 25 after they allegedly threatened a K-Mart security guard when he attempted to thwart their theft of 129 cans of spray paint, according to Hazlet Police Chief James Broderick.  The security guard allegedly observed them leaving the store with the merchandise, which is valued in excess of $500, Broderick explained. When the guard approached them, the two men allegedly threatened him by saying they were armed with a handgun and that he, "Better watch out," according to Broderick. Then the men, identified as 24-year-old Staten Island residents Michael Napolitano and Corey Rosali, and the unidentified woman left in a car, he said. Fire in West Keansburg Home Draws Large Response From Bayshore Fire Departments [Video]

Smoke was seen billowing from the Compton Avenue home.

Fire blazed in the second story of a West Keansburg home Tuesday night as fire departments from at least four Bayshore towns worked to battle the flames. As of 10:29 p.m., smoke was billowing from 97 Compton Avenue as firefighters used a ladder to access the roof and bring the fire under control before the flames could spread to neighboring homes on the tightly situated street. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire and if anyone was injured or displaced. Firefighters from Hazlet, West Keansburg, North Centerville, Union Beach, Middletown and Matawan all responded to the scene, in addition to the Hazlet Township Police Department, Hazlet First Aid and Rescue Squad and Monmouth County Fire Marshall.
