Donald “Doc” George Johansen, 69, of Holmdel Has Died
He was an active volunteer for the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation in Holmdel.
Donald “Doc” George Johansen, 69, of Holmdel, NJ passed away with wife and daughter by his side on September 27, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. Don was born on July 11, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Holmdel, NJ since 1986. Don was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 1st Calvary Division as a combat medic during the Vietnam War in 1965-1966 whereby he was awarded the Purple Heart during his service. He was an active volunteer for the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation in Holmdel, NJ often holding lectures (at schools) and educating students about the Vietnam War. I knew you were sick, but I guess I didn't realize just how sick you were. For that, I'm truly sorry. Thanks for all the laughs and stories, especially "Nha Trang Nights".
