Holmdel Boys XC Win Division, Girls Finish Third

Dan Barlev led the Holmdel boys cross-country team to a first-place finish in the A Central Division Championship on Tuesday.

The Holmdel boys cross-country team won the A Central Division Championship Tuesday at Holmdel Park, sweeping the field by taking the first five places.  Dan Barlev led Holmdel, finishing first overall in 17:15. Eric Williams, Dan's brother Aaron, Nick Demaio, and Anton Luz followed and finished within 14 seconds of each other.  "It feels great," Barlev said. "It's just the first stepping stone for hopefully a really great season for us. I'm proud of all of them." Holmdel held its top runner, Jack Baisley, out to keep him fresh for the rest of the season, opening up the opportunity for Barlev to lead the team.  "We train great, I felt great in this race so I just went out there did what I do everyday in practice," Barlev said. Holmdel Boy's Cross-Country Continues To Make Strides

The Holmdel boy's cross-country is aiming to keep pace with nationally-ranked CBA and be the best public school team in New Jersey.

The Holmdel boys cross-country season began last Friday at Ocean County Park, and the team is looking to be one of the top teams in New Jersey.  After finishing 11th at the Meet of Champions last year, Holmdel is aiming for a high finish again and even talking about qualifying for Nike Nationals, which rival Christian Brothers Academy won last year. “We talk about winning another state title, being the best public school team in New Jersey, possibly qualifying for Nike Nationals, those are all things that are important to us,” head coach Sean McCafferty said. “But my main goal is that the kids train properly, work hard, have a positive attitude, and when those races come up they are as ready as they can possibly be.” Holmdel is led this …

Elite High School Runners Whip Through Holmdel Park

The NJSIAA Meet of Champions was held in Holmdel Park Saturday. The best three teams from each group in the state competed. More than 3,000 people came to cheer on pure athleticism on a perfect day for running.

The temperature was warm and dry, but the air was electric with excitement at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions Saturday, Nov. 19. The Holmdel High School Boys Cross Country placed 11th in the race, with a time of 1:25:08. The team members were Jack Baisley, Travis Fodor, Dan Barlev, Andrew Tsai, Eric Williams, Jason McMullen and Nick DeMaio. The HHS Girls team did not qualify, but Lennon Cooper entered the race as a wildcard. She placed 42d in the race. Here are the results by Fraulo Race Timing of the 5K race.
