Hazlet Police Arrest Motorists With Driving Under the Influence

Three out of four September arrests occurred during daylight hours.

The following information was released by the Hazlet Police Dept on Sept. 21. An arrest is not a conviction.  Sept. 2: Richard Raymont, 40, of Old Bridge was charged by Hazlet Police with driving under the influence of drugs at 2:30 p.m. Sgt. Scott Mura arrested Raymont on Middle Road, and charged him with possession of heroin, possession of a controlled dangerous substance without proof of a prescription, and driving a car under the influence of narcotics. His car was impounded because his passenger, Edwin Smith, 40, of Keansburg was also arrested and charged by Ptl. Statewide Crackdown on Impaired Driving Begins Friday

More than $750,000 distributed to get drivings who have been drinking or using drugs off the road

The following is a message from the Division of Highway Traffic Safety: This weekend, more than 400 law enforcement agencies in New Jersey will be aggressively looking for all impaired drivers at sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols during the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” drunk driving mobilization, the Division of Highway Traffic Safety announced today. The crackdowns will run from August 17 to September 3. More than $750,000 will be distributed to 172 participating agencies in the form a $4,400 grant from the Division and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTHSA) to help fund the patrols. Locally, Old Bridge, Hazlet, Holmdel, Marlboro, Howell, and Keansburg Police Departments each received grants. In …

Hazlet Driver Charged with DWI After Hitting Pole at Middle Road

Police say the driver's blood alcohol content was three times over the legal limit.

A Hazlet resident was arrested by Hazlet Police and charged with driving while intoxicated after he hit a utility pole at Brookside and Middle Road around 9:51 p.m. on Monday, June 18. Police say Michael Deniscia, 33, of 46 Virginia Avenue was driving his 2010 Jeep Wrangler when it hit the pole, leaving it bent, cracked at the base and with a large chunk missing. He was not hurt in the accident. His vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene. Deniscia told police that the accident occurred because his tire blew out, and he lost control of the car. According to police, his blood alcohol content was .24, which is three times over the legal limit. The police record did not indicate where he had come from just before the accident. Utility …

Teen Charged with DWI After Early Morning Accident on Lloyd Road

The accident damaged a utility poll, causing Cambridge Drive to be closed Thursday

An Aberdeen teenager was charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-vehicle accident at 1:52 a.m. Thursday. Police say Jason P. Mettrock, 18, was driving a 2002 Chrysler Sebring on Lloyd Road near the intersection of Cambridge Drive, traveling away from Route 34, when he crossed over the double yellow line and struck a utility pole near Lloyd Road School. The pole was broken in half, causing Cambridge Drive to be closed throughout the day. Mettrock was alone in the car and was not hurt during the accident, according to Chief of Police John Powers. Man Found Sleeping in Car in Holmdel Family's Driveway

Holmdel Police say the Aberdeen man was looking for the Matawan train station when he stopped in the driveway to take a snooze.

Holmdel Police arrested an Aberdeen man for DWI Tuesday after he was discovered asleep in his car in the driveway of a home on Centerville Road. Mark Norman, 53, of 8 Anna Ave. in Aberdeen was also charged with reckless driving because when police arrived, he put his car into reverse and struck the resident's vehicle. The homeowner noticed the car at 5:30 p.m. and called police. During the investigation by Ptl Sigismondi, it was determined by the officer that Norman was operating his vehicle under the influence. Norman explained he was lost and was looking for the Matawan Train Station. He sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Bayshore Hospital by the Holmdel First Aid Squad.
