Six Cars Keyed in Hazlet, On The Last Day of School

The cars were parked on Concord Drive, across from Raritan High.

The owners of six cars reported their vehicles were "keyed" on June 13 while parked on Concord Drive in Hazlet, off Middle Road. The criminal mischief occurred sometime between 8 am. and noon, police said.   Concord Drive is located directly across Middle Road from Raritan High School. On June 13, the last day of school, high school students were dismissed at noon and the 8th grade graduation ceremony was held there at 2 p.m. Police said the key scratches were deep in length and appear on both sides of the cars. Parking on Concord Drive is permitted, as long as it is not in front of a hydrant or in the nearby cul-de-sac, which has parking restrictions. Residents have complained to police in the past about issues related to high schoolers …

Rocks Shatter Glassy Alcatel-Lucent Building Again

The 2-million square foot structure is targeted by mischief.

A security guard patrolling the vacant Alcatel-Lucent building at 101 Crawfords Corner Road discovered a large glass window in the rear of the building had been shattered by a rock thown at it, probably over the weekend. Broken glass and rocks were found on the ground. This is the second incident of rock-throwing criminal mischief reported at the facility in recent weeks. Numerous glass window panes were hit on the weekend of April 14-15, causing $10,000 worth of damage, according to the Alcatel-Lucent Property Manager Tom Resetar. On that occasion, police said there was evidence the vandals had been inside. The building has been unoccupied since 2006, but there is 24-hour surveillance at the complex and security guards patrolling the …

Tony, I couldn't agree with you more. Probably like most 24 hour patrols, the mid-night shift is likely counting sheep most of the time. It's still Lucent that has to do the repairs. Fortunately, it appears that the building won't be vacant for long.   more ›
