Poll: Should Cory Booker Run for Gov. or Senate?

Newark Mayor Cory Booker hints at his political future. You tell us: What position should he go after?

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who increasingly finds himself on the national political stage, has a decision to make: run for governor or run for U.S. Senate? Booker, 43, said he's considering both, and will make a decision in the next two weeks, according to the Huffington Post. Speculation has swirled that Booker would seek higher office as his political star starts to shine brighter. Party officials gave him a coveted speaking spot at this year's Democratic National Convention and moves such as living off of the same allotment as food stamp recipients for a week garnered national attention. Now the question is: Which office will he seek and who will he run against? If he goes for governor and wins the Democratic primary, he'll almost …

How is there always a camera around when he does something newsworthy. And why would he risk the lives of his security detail last year by running into a burning building? I wonder if they ended up having to take time off for any sustained injuries? Good idea there, stay in your corner office at city hall.   more ›

Booker: Dem Platform Offers 'Clear Choice' Between 'Inclusion or Exclusion'

In short speech, Newark mayor hits on themes of fairness, restoring prosperity

Newark Mayor Cory Booker gave a brief speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday, touching on topics that included economic inequality, education and breaks for small business. His words brought the audience to its feet.  “This is our American mission. These are the dreams of our fathers and our mothers,” Booker told the crowd gathered in Charlotte, N.C., for day one of the convention. The convention ends Thursday when President Obama formally accepts the nomination.  Unlike Gov. Chris Christie, who gave a primetime address during last week’s Republican National Convention, Booker’s speech lasted a little more than 10 minutes and aired at 6 p.m., before the major television networks began their broadcasts.  Booker, who served as …

Gov. Christie and Mayor Booker: ‘Don't Worry, We've Got This’ (Video)

NJ’s governor and Cory Booker channel Seinfeld in video parody for correspondents show.

Just because they're the state's two most prominent politicians doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor. The office of Gov. Chris Christie yesterday released a lighthearted video co-starring Newark Mayor Cory Booker as a peripatetic go-to guy, riffing off his now national-scale image as a man of action following his rescue of a neighbor from a burning building several weeks ago. As the Democratic mayor of the state's largest city is depicted doing everything from coming up with a spare guitar for Bruce Springsteen to catching a falling baby, a faux-frustrated Christie hisses "Booker!" The video was produced for the New Jersey Press Association's Legislative Correspondents Club show.
