Wallets Stolen From Unlocked Cars in Hazlet

Hazlet Police remind residents to secure their valuable and lock their cars.

Hazlet Police have received numerous reports of cars being broken into in recent days. In every case, the vehicle was unlocked and wallets and loose change were targeted. Early on Thursday, June 21, residents living on East Richard St. and Carriage Road North both reported that sometime during the night someone had opened the unlocked cars and taken wallets they left in their cars. Later on that same day, the wallet belonging to the East Richard resident was found tossed on Hazlet Avenue near the intersection with Route 35.  On Friday, June 22, an unlocked car parked outside Pets Supplies "Plus" at Hazlet Avenue and Route 35 South was entered and a GPS valued at $150, a wallet with personal identification and $20 in cash was discovered …

Hazlet Police Blotter: Drunk Driving and Theft Charges

Police reports from May 31-June 6

May 31 -- Dennis Wernock, 64, of Carteret was arrested and charged with drunk driving after leaving the scene of accident at Route 36 and Laurel around 4:25 pm. June 3 -- Gary Jaremba, 56 of Parlin, was arrested and charged with DUI around 11:20 a.m. Police found him in the parking lot of Airport Plaza shiopping center were he was passed out in his car, which was still running.   June 3 -- Thomas Simmons, 53, of Laurel Ave and 11th Street, was arrested and charged with DUI after a motor vehicle stope around 11:57 p.m.  June 5 -- Alberto Arce, 19 of Jersey City, was stopped at 2:21 a.m. for a motor vehicle violation near the entrance to Garden State Parkway Exit 117. Three Arrested for Car Burglaries in Holmdel Early Thanksgiving Morning

Two men and a woman were caught with a wallet and GPS units, police say.

An alert Holmdel resident returning home from work called 911 around 4 a.m. Thursday morning, after he noticed an unfamiliar vehicle and young people acting suspiciously in his neighborhood off Laurel Avenue. Holmdel, Hazlet, Middletown and Keansburg Police Departments reported to Agostina Drive and Weller Place. In the end Holmdel Police arrested three people, charging them with car burglary. Holmdel Patrol Officers Sean McGraw and Christopher Cherney located and arrested Julian Buccos, age 18, of 14A Main St, Keansburg, NJ; Paige Gaglianese, age 19, of 657 Duquesne Terrance, Union, NJ; and Anthony Hoff, age 18, of 42 Woodside Ave, Keansburg, NJ.
