A New Brunswick man allegedly stole $117,108 in perfume from Cosmetics Essence Innovations in Holmdel on Friday. According to an arrest warrant filed by New Jersey State Police, 52-year-old Juan Bernal employed a 17-year-old in the alleged theft by having the juvenile load the perfume into a black Honda Passport. Authorities say Bernal took 1,890 4.2-ounce bottles of 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden valued at $109,620. He is also accused of taking 234 3.4-ounce bottles of Victoria Secret Live Pink valued at $7,488. Trooper F. Bermudez is listed as the arresting officer in court documents. Bernal was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $100,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent of the bond.

August 16: The Holmdel Police Department was called to CEI on Route 35 for an alleged employee theft. Police charged Mario Reyes-Matos, 56, of Bronx NY with his alleged involvement in stealing numerous bottles of perfume off the production line by taping them to his legs. Maytos was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released. August 16: Police are investigating a possible burglary attempt of a township -owned home on Middletown Road.
