$7,000 worth of jewelry was taken sometime in the past few weeks, the homeowner said.
Hazlet Police Det. Lt. Charles McBride said residents should continue to be alert for any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. A recent rash of residential burglaries in neighborhoods off Middle Road is still under investigation. In each of the four cases on Colgate Court, Roland Place, Virginia Avenue and Lafayette Drive, a suspect entered the houses through a rear window and stole jewelry and cash. Recently a Keansburg man was apprehended by police on Virginia Avenue in possesion of a crowbar, screwdriver and gloves. He was taken to county jail on an unrelated warrant, but has since been released and the case was transferred to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, said McBride. On the afternoon of June 23, a homeowner on …

Tools were used to pry open rear windows, allowing thieves to break in.
Two homes -- one on Colgate Court, another on Roland Place -- were recently broken into by a person who took jewelry from the master bedroom, say Hazlet Police. The incidents happened just days after two other similar incidents on nearby Virginia Ave on June 4 and Lafayette Drive on May 31. In both of those cases, someone pried open a window and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and cash. "We're looking to see if there is a pattern and a connection with all these burglaries," said Hazlet Police Det. Lt. Charles McBride Wednesday. "We're starting to put a profile together of the type of person who may be involved in this." Undercover officers in unmarked cars are stepping up patrols in the neighborhoods near the high school, …

He is charged in connection with eight burglaries or attempted burglaries, police say
Aberdeen Police arrested a Keyport man in connection with the burglaries or attempted burglaries of eight township homes that began in December 2011. Police say that Rami Ramada, 23, conspired with other still unidentified individuals to commit burglaries at homes on Idlewild Lane, Idaho Lane, Brookview Lane, Canfield Lane, Oakshade Avenue, Lake Blvd., and Third Street. A total of $28,085 worth of proceeds were taken from the homes, according to the charges filed against Ramada. Information uncovered during the investigation led Aberdeen Township detectives on Feb. 6 to a residence on Harrison Avenue, where Ramada was staying.
