Sen. Kyrillos Visits Building Materials Company on Route 34 to Kick Off Statewide Jobs Tour

The state senator (R-Monmouth) is running for U.S. Senate

State Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth), who is seeking election to the U.S. Senate, began a statewide jobs tour Monday at OEG Building Materials, an Old Bridge based company that produces steel beams and employs about forty people. The goal of the tour, Kyrillos said, is to help him develop a detailed jobs plan that incorporates the perspective of the local business owner. "I want to come up with a comprehensive jobs plan," he said. "I don't want it to be one that is a compilation of press releases and political rhetoric, but something that really can be a strong blue print for the next president, whoever he is, and the next Congress, to get the country moving again." Kyrillos sat down and spoke with OEG general manager Salvatore Sammartano…

This is a good man with a fine reputation in politics and in New Jersey. His opponent Bob Menendez is too mired in his own troubled past to be believed. Those examples of ethical lapses and self serving deals coupled with a dismal record on bringing money back to our state is the main reason Joe Kyrillos needs to be our next Senator. Now if we can only get rid of that joke of a Senator Frank …   more ›

Romney Comes to New Jersey for Kyrillos Fundraiser

The probable Republican nominee for U.S. president attends a political fundraiser on Bernardsville mountain.

The actual event was a political fundraiser for state Sen. Joe Kyrillos, a Republican and Middletown resident who wants to replace Democrat Bob Menendez in the U.S. Senate, but the reason for all the security, traffic and reporters outside a private home in Bernardsville on Wednesday afternoon was the awaited arrival of Mitt Romney. Romney, the likely Republican nominee for this year's presidential race, arrived about an hour after the scheduled start of the $5,000-a-plate campaign event at the house of attorney Edward Deutsch. The Somerset County sheriff's department, with its canine unit, a few cars and officers from the Bernardsville police department and Secret Service had already secured the entrance to the home on Dryden Road prior …

Kyrillos' Camp 'Grateful' for Romney's Support

Presidential hopeful to attend fundraiser for U.S. senator candidate Wednesday in Bernardsville.

Just one month after U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez lured the country's vice president to a local fundraiser at a private home, his challenger is bringing a big name of his own to the area. A $5,000-a-plate fundraiser for State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth), a Middletown resident, will be held Wednesday at the home of a Bernardsville attorney that will feature Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. "We are grateful for Governor Romney’s support for Senator Kyrillos' campaign against Bob Menendez," Kyrillos' campaign manager, Chapin Fay, wrote Tuesday in an email to Patch. Menendez held his own high-profile event last month in a Morris Township home where tickets sold for $1,000 each and was attended by Vice President Joe Biden. About …

Kyrillos Announces Bid for U.S. Senate

The state senator made his goal to unseat U.S. Senator Robert Menedez official

Joseph M. Kyrillos Jr. is a Middletown guy. He was raised in the township. He still lives in the township. And, since he first became an assemblyman, the Republican politician has kept his political headquarters in Middletown. So, it only stands to reason that, since he now considers himself the Middletown guy gone national, he would choose to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate at the longstanding gathering spot for Middletown’s GOP politicians — the Lincroft Inn on Newman Springs Road. Local and state political figureheads, family and friends of the 51-year-old state senator’s packed the restaurant’s banquet room to hear what he had to say about his decision to go national and unseat incumbent Senator Robert Menendez, a Democrat. …

Center For Jewish Life Opens in Marlboro

Mayor Jon Hornik received a Community Service Award from Sen. Robert Menendez

The first Synagogue and Center for Jewish Life celebrated its grand opening last week at a gala where U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez was the Keynote Speaker. The center was founded by Russian Jewish immigrants, and is an 18,000 square foot building on Rt. 79 in Marlboro. The existing Monmouth Worship Center was renovated over the last 3 months, and now includes a Synagogue, classrooms and a meeting space. 300 guests attended the gala, which Menendez called a "new beginning." “This is a new beginning to the many Russian immigrants who now have a place to practice their religious beliefs freely, without fear or hesitation. It is a place to rekindle their Jewish faith, strengthen their Jewish identity that for too long was denied in the former …

Five Candidates Vie for State Senate Seat in 13th Legislative District Race

Incumbent Republican Joe Kyrillos is seeking a sixth term in office.

Four people running in the District 13 Legislative race on Nov. 8 are facing a formidable incumbent, state Senator Joseph Kyrillos, Jr. The five-term state Senator, of Middletown, known for his support of Gov. Chris Christie's "Tool Kit" initiatives to reform state government, is considered a very strong candidate for re-election in a Republican-leaning district.  But his opponents say anything can happen, if enough people desire change. Running against him is Democrat Christopher G. Cullen, and three independents: Karen Anne Zalatel of Keep Monmouth Green; Stephen J. Boracchia of the Constitution Party, and MacDara F. Lyden of Jobs-Economy-Honesty. Earlier this year, the 13th district was redrawn. Matawan and Democratic-leaning Old Bridge…
