Big Win Over Raritan and on to the Semi-Finals for Holmdel Boys Soccer

It was a memorable day for all of the sophomores on the Holmdel Varsity Soccer team today but most memorable of all for Hunter Chapman.  Hunter, recently brought up to varsity from the JV team at the end of the JV season, scored his first varsity goal today in the 23rd minute to give his team a 1-0 lead over cross-town rival Raritan today at Roggy field.

Holmdel completed dominated the first half and had several other good scoring opportunities that they were unable to capitalize on.  Raritan came alive in the second half and had a few good opportunities, including one that bounced off the post.  Holmdel missed an opportunity to add to its lead when they had a penalty kick blocked in the second half.  Sophomore, Dante Marino was on a breakaway when he was taken down from behind in the box.  Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano had 4 saves today, including a diving save in the second half, to  preserve the shutout, his 10th of the year.  Finally, sophomore, Rohan Gandhi added a second, insurance goal, in the final minute of the game, to give Holmdel the 2-0 victory.

With that win, Holmdel advances to the Central Jersey Group II semi-finals against Delran.  Delran defeated Pt. Pleasant Boro earlier today 2-1.

Come on out to Roggy field to support both the Girls and Boys Varsity teams as they each take on Delran in the semi-finals.  See you there.
