HFEE Donates Digital Sound System to District

Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence (HFEE) supports the District's arts programs by donating a complete digital sound system with remote features and surround sound.

A statewide survey of arts education programs in New Jersey schools released on Thursday documents a correlation between schools with more arts education programs and greater proficiency scores on the language sections of the NJ High school state exam. (See PDF attached to this article.)

It is truly such a wonderful coincidence that this study is just being released now!

I am happy to tell you that, just this week, the Trustees of the Holmdel Foundation for Educational ExcellenceHFEE) voted to donate a fully digital sound board with surround sound amplifiers for the High School auditorium.

The decision to make this donation followed an extensive review by the HFEE in conjunction with the Administration on where HFEE money could best be used to enhance the curriculum at this time.

While the HFEE looks at all subject areas in all four schools when deciding on donations, an important factor signaling that the time was right for this donation is the fact that the auditorium will be undergoing a partial renovation to modernize the ceiling lights in the venue.

Having part of the ceiling and walls open for this renovation will facilitate installation of this new digital sound system with remote features and will replace an outdated analog system that must be operated manually.

The new sound system will be used for band, choral and a variety of theatrical performances for Satz and High School students.  It should greatly enhance the quality of the performances the students produce there and will also give students, whose job it is to work equipment, experience with modern theatrical technology.

Needless to say, the fact that there is this recent study that proves there is link between a strong education in the arts and high achievement just reinforces that this was a good (or shall I shall I say sound) decision.

The HFEE is thrilled to be involved in this project and is truly humbled by the generosity of the community that has allowed us to realize this for the students.

We also have exciting news upcoming related to our mini-grant program so…stay tuned.
