What's Happening In Hazlet Schools: NJ ASK Make-ups, PTO Plant Sales

A look at what is planned for Hazlet public school students in the month of May, as reported by Raritan High School junior Bianca Lucarini.

Raritan High School junior Bianca Lucarini is the student representative to the Board of Education. She gave this school district report at Beers Street School on Monday, May 6. This was her first report after taking over the reigns from graduating senior Leann Coppola. 

Hello everyone, I am Bianca Lucarini your new student representative to the Board of Education. I am thrilled to be standing before you to announce the fun, exciting upcoming and prior events that the Hazlet township public schools have planned.

First off, Raritan High School's staff and students successfully presented the second annual Coffee House on April 26 at 6:00 p.m., with great jams and treats provided everyone enjoyed themselves and cannot wait until the next show! Raritan High School's 11th grade students had an amazing time attending this year's annual Junior Prom on May 3, held at Piazza Di Roma. This included tons of fun filled dancing, upbeat music and delicious food! We would like to thank Piazza Di Roma and our Junior Student Council for supplying us with memories that will last a life time! Raritan students will show us their hidden talents on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Raritan's Talent Show. On May 14 the RHS band will host their Spring Concert, Raritan students will also tap into their creative side expressing themselves through poetry at The Poetry Slam on May 15 at 6:30 p.m.! Finally, Raritan High School's Drama club will hold their annual Drama Banquet to Drama Club Members on May 16 at 6:00 p.m.

Next, Hazlet Middle School had NJ Ask Testing Tuesday April 30 - Friday, May 3, for any student that was not present during the NJ Ask testing days. Make-ups will be given Monday, May 6 through Thursday May 10. On May 15 Hazlet Middle School's band are excited and anxious to perform their Spring Concert on May 15 at 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. On May 16 progress reports will be available on the Parent Portal. Finally, eighth graders are super eager to attend this year's eighth grade Semi-Formal on May 17 at 6:00 p.m.

At Beers Street School students will be taking the NJ Ask on Monday May 6- Thursday May 9. It's the spring season, which means lots of flowers are blooming. The PTO will also be in the spring spirit hosting a plant sale on Wednesday May 8 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Get some beautiful flowers for your mama at The Mother's Day Plant Sale which will be held on May 9 and May 10!

Cove Road School will also be taking the NJ Ask Testing on Monday May 6 to Thursday May 9. Cove Road's PTO will host their Plant Sale on May 9th and 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday May 13 to Thursday May 16 will be NJ Ask make-ups. Cove Road students are excited to present their cheerful Spring Concert on May 13 at 7:00p.m. at Raritan High School. On Friday, May 17, fifth graders are thrilled to get a taste of summer on their field trip to Sandy Hook from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

At Lillian Drive School, second graders successfully took the NJ Pass on April 22nd- 24th! 4th graders had a blast on field trip with Miss. Csulak and Mrs. Gammon! May 6th will kick off Teachers Appreciation Week! Be sure to stop by and grab a cup of Joe! Lillian Drive will host Coffee with The Principal on May 7th at 6:30 p.m. May13- May 16th NJ Ask will be given to the 3rd and 4th grade students and May 17th the NJ Ask will be exclusively given to the 4th grade students. May 20th- 24th will be NJ Ask make-up days for 3rd and 4th grade students.

Middle Road School's 4th grade students had an amazing performance of their Spring Concert on May 2 at Raritan High School for family and friends to see, they rocked it again on May 4 performing in front of Middle Road School's staff and students. Fourth Graders were so excited for their class trip today May 6. On May 9 to 10 Middle Road's PTO will have their Mother and Father's Day Plant Sale. On May 13 to 16 will be Grade 3 and 4's NJ Ask Testing! May 17 will just be exclusively Grade 4's NJ Ask testing. On May 14 a PTO meeting will be held in the library at 7:00 p.m. May 16 Progress Reports will be available on the Parent Portal. May 17 will be the second grade class trip.

Raritan Valley School's second graders had successful testing on April 22 to April 24. Report Cards were also posted on the Parent Portal April 23. Raritan Valley Students showed their immense care for animals by wearing orange on April 26. On May 1, Raritan Valley showed off their future Picasso's and creative students at the Raritan Valley Art Show. The children had a blast displaying their artistic abilities to family, friends and teachers.

At Sycamore Drive Early Childhood Learning Center, the PTO will host their plant sale on May 10. On May 13, students will celebrate Gardening Day. On May 16th students will enjoy the outdoors by participating in Field Day on May 16.
