In an email to parents last week, Superintendent Barbara Duncan called for an early dismissal on Oct. 16 for all students in Holmdel.

School dates to remember in Holmdel:

  • Sept. 4: First day of school
  • Sept. 5: Rosh Hashana, schools closed
  • Oct. 16: Professional development, early dismissal
  • Nov. 5: Election day, schools closed
  • Nov. 7-8: NJEA Convention, schools closed
  • Nov. 27: Half day
  • Nov. 28-29: Thanksgiving recess
  • Dec. 20: Half day
  • Dec. 23-Jan. 1: Winter break
  • Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, schools closed
  • Jan. 31: Chinese New Year, schools closed
  • Feb. 14: Half day
  • Feb. 17: President's Day, schools closed
  • March 28: Half day
  • April 11: Half day
  • April 14-18: Spring break
  • May 23 and 26: Memorial Day weekend, schools closed
  • June 19: Last day of school
